Mission Statement
My name is Adam M. Glickman. I am 29 years old and have been fishing since I was 2 and musky fishing since 12. I was born and raised in Northern WI, but currently reside west of Minneapolis in MN. I fish heavily in WI and MN, but travel the country in search of quality fisheries whenever I can. I am a field editor with MUSKIE Magazine, and have put hundreds of muskies in the bottom of the net.
The Honest Musky is a site that represents Chequamegon Angling Enterprises. Chequamegon Angling Enterprises is a small corporation run by myself, my wife, and a few of our friends. Chequamegon Angling Enterprises consists of the Chequamegon Tackle Company, Chequamegon Apparel Company, and Honest Musky Media. This site is a constant work in progress. As yet, content is limited. However, informational articles and stories, as well as entertaining and educational video are constantly being added. Those who visit this site will be entitled to a constant addition of new media, and no content will ever be taken from the site. In years to come, I will build a massive library of literature and video for those who use the site. When I have published a large amount of material, content will be made available to honest musky members on a subscription basis. Currently though, all material is open to the general public.
The purpose of this site is to provide fishermen with information, entertainment, a few quality products, links to other sites that provide quality products and services, and forums for sharing knowledge, experiences, and ideas. Many of these areas are not available yet, but they will be soon. This site is called the honest musky because I believe in honesty in my business practices and fishing. This does not mean I will reveal every place I catch muskies from, although I do disclose many locations. What it does mean is that I don’t portray myself as infallible, above other anglers, a know it all, or some modern musky guru, and I don’t sell gimmicks.
I have fished muskies long enough to know that true musky knowledge means that we will never fully understand why muskies (or any other fish for that matter) do what they do. The best any individual can hope for is to develop their understanding and skill as much as possible in their lifetime and pass that on so future generations may come closer than we have. Nobody is beyond learning, and the experiences and knowledge of any angler can help even the most seasoned veterans. Those who dismiss the thoughts of others are done growing as anglers as far as I am concerned. Sharing and acceptance of knowledge will help us all. This is what I want my site to contribute to. I also want to promote the importance of habitat and resource conservation, improvement, expansion, and restoration. Without the health of our environment, we would be lost. Therefore, I will be donating 2% of the net annual profits made by Chequamegon Angling Enterprises to Muskies Inc..
Part of my honest approach is realizing that most anglers (including myself) cannot afford $30,000-$70,000 boats loaded with the latest technology. However, I have found that large investments of money are not crucial to musky fishing success. I have written it before, and I will write it again: Muskies bite on well made presentations, not wads of cash. Most of my muskies have been brought into the same boat I have had since I was 13. It is a 14’ semi-V hull utility boat I have customized to fit my needs. It has seen a lot of action, it constantly develops new leeks, and it tends to scare those who fish with me. But I love it and will never leave it. I pull this boat with a vehicle that is worth less than the rods and reels I bring fishing for the day. My goal is to help everyone catch more muskies. One of my philosophies is to buy less, fish more.
I am a regular fisherman, like everyone else. I get out when I can. I have good days and bad. I laugh and I have melt downs. Sometimes everything falls into place just right, and sometimes the wheels simply fall off the bus. Musky resources are expanding, but not as fast as the population of musky anglers. Too often, massive secrecy and even fighting results. In the 90’s, a man of questionable integrity said, “Can’t we all just get along.” Well Rodney, I think we can, and this site is my contribution. Lets laugh, lets get pissed off, lets succeed, and lets make this journey together.
